Back on Flickr
Having had a break from Flickr for six or seven weeks, I am back up and running there. You can find my pictures at Morven Photo on Flickr.
My last Flickr post was on 30 July which coincided with the transfer of Morven Photoblog into its new home using PixelPost.
The reason I quit was the hopeless reliability of the service and the lack of response. My pictures and those of others were simply not available for long periods of time and it was very frustrating to be ignored by the folk at Flickr. You would not have believed I was a valued customer with this treatment. This was the reason that I moved my blog over to its new home in such a short period.
I am reliably informed that the service is now much better and am trying again. My mistake was to purchase a two year contract with Flickr and so I have the account until the middle of 2007 so it might be an idea to use it. Further I do enjoy the sense of community (see also my reasons for bloggin in the article Why Do We Photoblog? and the friends and contacts who call by.
I would be interested to hear your views on Flickr.

I wonder why I paid to do it? I have Blogger for free and it’s fast with Hello and Picassa (all Google tools) and looks fantastic - it just isn’t as easy to search because it’s tagless. Flickr is a pain in the butt to upload to it. I don’t know why I paid the $$ to do it. I’ve met some fun people (mostly motorcycle riders) through Flickr, but I really hate how unfriendly it is to upload to.

Jamie - there is an uploading too which you can download - this is drag and drop - sadly it does not work on my work laptop because there are many security restrictions on non browsers connecting to the internet etc. It works just fine on my own pc at home though.

Have you tried www.zoto.com ? It’s comparable to Flickr.
I quite from Flickr because it forces new users to have Yahoo! account.

I’ve always wanted to try flicker, but its mixed reviews like these that keep me away. I’m interested to hear how you like it once you’ve had some time on the “improved system”
On the other hand, it does look like a fun place to share photos and meet people.

David - it is definitely that, though it can become addictive.
